The Ghana at 70 Heritage Collection is an ongoing series of contemporary paintings by MINA that reimagines Ghana's monuments, historic sites, cultural landmarks, traditional livelihoods, and collective memories through the visual language of archival scrolls, legacy and story telling.
Drawing inspiration from locations and subjects including the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum, the Akosombo Dam, Adomi Bridge, Independence Square, Jubilee House, Makola Market Women, Moonlight Fishermen, and other sites and traditions of national significance, the collection explores the relationship between heritage, community, identity, memory, and place.
Each work in the Heritage Scroll Collection is presented as a symbolic scroll, suggesting preservation, storytelling, and the passing of cultural knowledge from one generation to the next. Through atmospheric colour, expressive brushwork, and a contemporary approach to historical and cultural subjects, the collection celebrates both Ghana's built heritage and its living traditions.
By bringing together monuments, marketplaces, waterways, architecture, and everyday cultural experiences, the collection seeks to preserve and reinterpret the diverse narratives that have shaped Ghana's national identity.
The collection is being developed in preparation for future exhibitions and Ghana's 70th Independence Celebrations.
Purchase & Exhibition Notice
All original paintings purchased from the Ghana at 70 Heritage Collection will remain with MINA | Mina’s Art Space for exhibition purposes and will be shipped to the buyer after the conclusion of the planned Ghana at 70 exhibition in 2027. Buyers will receive confirmation of purchase and ownership, while physical delivery will take place once the exhibition period has ended.
