Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum – Accra, 2026
Acrylic on Canvas | 61 × 92 cm
This painting forms part of MINA's developing Ghana @70 Heritage Scroll Collection, a body of work exploring Ghana's monuments, cultural memory, and national identity through the visual language of archival scrolls.
Inspired by the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum in Accra, the work reinterprets one of Ghana's most significant national landmarks as a preserved historical record. The scroll format suggests memory, documentation, and the transmission of heritage across generations.
The monument emerges from an atmospheric landscape framed by weathered scroll edges, creating a dialogue between past and present. The sculptural fountain figures, surrounding vegetation, and human presence provide a sense of scale while emphasizing the Mausoleum's enduring place within Ghana's cultural landscape.
Part of Ghana @ 70: Heritage Scroll Collection, Heritage, Memory and Identity.
