Sustainer of the Community portrays a Ghanaian woman preparing food over a traditional firewood stove within a rural landscape.
Food preparation becomes a visual language for care, resourcefulness and community life. The fire represents warmth and nourishment, while the surrounding landscape situates the woman within the land from which daily life is sustained.
Rather than treating domestic labour as peripheral, MINA places it at the centre of the composition, recognising its importance to family and social continuity.
Part of Ghana at 70 Heritage Collection: Women of the Land, the work celebrates women whose everyday actions nourish and sustain communities.
