Golden Temple Steps - Varanasi

Golden Temple Steps - Varanasi is an original acrylic painting by MINA

Step into the timeless spiritual landscape of Varanasi through this evocative acrylic painting by MINA. Golden Temple, Varanasi captures the quiet grandeur of one of India's most sacred riverside settings, where architecture, history, and everyday life converge along the ghats of the Ganges.

Rendered in MINA's distinctive contemporary representational style, the composition balances architectural structure with a soft, atmospheric quality. Warm earth tones and terracotta hues contrast beautifully against the cool blues and greens of the water and sky, creating a sense of harmony and serenity. Small human figures are intentionally simplified, inviting viewers to imagine their own journey through this sacred place.

Using layered acrylic techniques, MINA builds depth through transparent washes, subtle blending, and expressive brushwork. The painting combines carefully observed architectural details with a painterly treatment of light, colour, and reflection. The loose handling of water and sky adds movement and emotion, while the strong geometric lines of the steps lead the eye naturally toward the temple structure, creating a compelling sense of perspective.

This artwork is part of MINA's Varanasi Collection, inspired by the cultural heritage, spiritual traditions, and architectural beauty of one of the world's oldest living cities. It offers collectors an opportunity to bring a sense of reflection, history, and peaceful contemplation into their space.

The work forms part of MINA’s wider exploration of places she has personally visited and experienced, reflecting her artistic philosophy:

“Time Past Reflected in Time Present.”
